Summer internships in cancer research
Program returns for second year
Imagine this.
The chance to spend 10 weeks at a world-class, state-of-the-art cancer research facility. You spend your days learning laboratory techniques from scientists and contributing to research projects in areas such as cancer biology and plant-made pharmaceuticals. How much would you learn? How much would you grow?
If you're ready for the challenge, a summer at the Owensboro Cancer Research Program could be just the opportunity for you.
This summer, OCRP will partner with the OMHS Foundation for Health Medicus Society to offer full-time hands-on research internships for pre-medical and pre-dental undergraduate students. The program seeks to offer pre-professional students a rigorous research experience under the guidance of an OCRP faculty mentor.

About the program
When
June 1-August 6, 2010 (10 weeks)
Where
The Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center, located on the OMHS main campus
Stipend
Each student participant will receive a stipend of $3,500 over the ten-week period. Free communal housing is available with other interns and medical students participating in OCRP summer research programs.
Eligibility
All pre-medical and pre-dental students are eligible to apply if they:
a. are completing their junior year of college prior to the start of the program
b. have completed introductory chemistry and biology courses.
Application Materials
The application deadline is April 1, 2010. Applicants should submit:
- Transcripts
- One page description of career goals
- Two letters of reference from the applicant's home institution
