Quality Number One Strategy
At OMHS, nothing is more important than the quality of care you and your loved ones receive in our hospital. Quality care that is safe, efficient, timely, effective, equitable and patient-centered. Our skilled medical teams use advanced technology and combine their know-how to speed healing. And, we compare ourselves to the top 10 percent of hospitals across the country to ensure that we measure ourselves against the best and brightest.
The OMHS Board of Directors selected quality care as our primary focus, establishing a Board Quality and Safety Committee that includes both board members and physicians. This group provides leadership in setting priorities, monitoring progress and guiding the hospital in achieving quality goals. Team members also serve on other leading patient safety and quality teams within the hospital, enabling us to spread the initiatives to all hospital departments and involve our entire staff.
Eye-Q: Keeping An Eye On Healthcare Quality
In 2004, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., launched the 100,000 Lives Campaign, a broad national effort to achieve urgent improvement in hospital safety.
The effort led U.S. hospitals to implement proven changes to reduce hospital deaths. As one of the first members of the Institute, OMHS became actively involved in the campaign.
OMHS Excels At Meeting Quality Goals In 2007
Every year the board of directors and leaders at OMHS set eight employee-dependent quality goals aimed at improving the quality of care for patients. This past year we were successful in meeting and exceeding all eight. By setting our standards high and working together as a team, we are improving the lives of our patients by keeping them safe, enhancing the care they receive and in many instances decreasing the length of hospital stays.
