Women’s Unit

Service/Responsibilities

The Women’s Unit is sensitive to the needs of women and is devoted to providing an environment where the patient as well as her family participates in  every aspect of her care. Our unit is responsible for post-operative gynecology patients, as well as, a wide range of medical-surgical services dedicated exclusively to women’s health issues. Personalized women’s care is our hallmark.

Technology

The Women's Unit utilizes computerized charting.

Staffing

The Women's Unit has 14 private patient rooms and an average daily census of 10 patients. The average length of stay for our patients is less than two days. There is a rapid turnover of patients on a day-to-day basis. Registered Nurses care for patients, and are assisted by nurse assistants and unit clerks.

Training/Continuing Education

The Women’s Unit participates in all the hospital sponsored quality improvement programs. Annual skills lab is mandatory for all staff. Unit specific education is offered by our own OB/GYN physicians to ensure adequately trained staff on an ongoing basis.

The training for this department includes yearly competencies, CPR, and Grand Rounds.
