OMHS Pediatrics – Providing Medical Care to Children and Comfort to Parents…

At OMHS we’re dedicated to giving your children the best healthcare because the children we heal today are tomorrow’s healthy adults.

OMHS Pediatric Care:  A Safe Place for Children

The Pediatric Care Center at OMHS is open to all children to age 17 and provides inpatient treatment for young adults ages 18+.

All the nurses on the unit are Pediatric Care Certified and have an average of 15 years' experience.  They receive regular training in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and pass an annual skill competency for administering child medications, and for pediatric emergency and pediatric equimpment.  To ensure the highest quality of care, OMHS follows the standards set by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

During Your Child’s Stay

The average pediatric inpatient stay at OMHS is three and a half days.  During a child’s care, parents are welcome—and encouraged—to stay; a comfortable bed and meals are provided.  For the rest of the family and friends, the Pediatric Unit allows open visitation till 9:00 p.m.

The OHMS medical staff conducts daily rounding to oversee each child’s health and safety.  As part of our safety program, your child is monitored by our Code Alert Security System for his or her additional protection.

The OMHS Pediatric Staff Difference

We never forget that our young patients are your children.  Our medical staff knows we treat patients and their families.  It’s our duty to keep you informed about your child’s care so you’re actively involved with his or her individual care plan.
